The Project Challenge
Apart from the size and weight of the two pharmaceutical chillers that had to be replaced, the site was on a second floor, and it was extremely narrow between the walls with almost no room for maneuvering. At the last stage of the design, the client changed his mind about the way of disassembling and replacing the chillers only by CKD (complete knockdown) due to:
- Very limited spaces to move around inside the chiller plant
- Live piping that was installed on top and therefore restricted the area for clearance
- The difficulty of hoisting fully assembled chillers down from level 2
Even though the CKD installation route was still open, it came with a variety of dangers and complications that needed to be addressed properly.
Jaberson’s Solution
Jaberson, the trusted partner for precision-heavy transport services in Singapore, was therefore engaged to assess the likely alternatives and carry out the change.
The team came up with an exclusive solution that integrated safety, effectiveness, and technology:
- Low-height skidding rollers were used for moving the heavy components safely in the restricted space.
- A 50,000kg SWL lifting platform was constructed to achieve the safe lowering and hoisting of the chiller sections.
- Two cranes were used to perform the platform lifting operations in a controlled and synchronized manner.
With this approach, Jaberson was able to bypass the double challenges of limited spaces and safety risks, providing a feasible but highly technical solution.
Results: On Time and Ahead of Schedule
The project was even finished before the deadline with no safety incidents and full client satisfaction – a result that reflects Jaberson’s good name for the defiance of the complex industrial projects. Properly, every step of the implementation, from the breakup of the duplex chillers into the knockdown components to the safe hoisting of them from the second level, was made execute safety protocols to the letter.
